Open Society: the work being done by Hivos South America

September 2, 2014

We invite you to get to know the work the Hivos regional office in South America has been doing within what we call the ‘Open Society’ track. Our new beautifully illustrated digital booklet, “Sociedades Abiertas” (ES), showcases the many activities Hivos supports in the areas of Transparency and Accountability, Freedom of Expression, Women’s Empowerment, Sexual Rights and LGBTI Empowerment.

The booklet also features some of the key initiatives our partners in South America are undertaking to work toward a better world.

The Open Society concept is based on freedom – of expression, of convictions and ways of living. An Open Society embraces diversity and enables citizens to actively shape society and take control over their own lives. In an Open Society, democratic institutions support and guarantee these freedoms, and the quality of political decision-making is high.

The Open Society booklet is available on line (issu format) in Spanish. You can also download it in pdf in the documents box on the right.
